Dr. Vassilia Orfanou is the new marketing director of the Gaia-X association and announces her departure from the European affairs office of MARCO

Brussels, Belgium – January 25, 2022 Dr. Vassilia Orfanou, a renowned expert in global affairs, communications and media diplomacy, is now Marketing Director of Gaia-X Association, a leading trade association of companies committed to building open data infrastructures , transparent and secure across Europe. With this announcement, Dr. Orfanou also announced his departure from the European Affairs and Business Development Office of MARCO, a communications consultancy firm.

Dr Orfanou started leading MARCO’s new office in Brussels in January 2021 and his engagement involved a year-long cooperation to support his work on European affairs and win public contracts in the field. There, she quickly put her extensive expertise to good use providing legal, procurement, financial and communications advice to European Union institutions and helped MARCO build its European Union business with five projects in cooperation with EIB, EEA, DG COMM, DG EAC and EUIPO.

In his new role at Gaia-X, Dr. Orfanou will be responsible for the overall discipline of marketing, communications, press, video and events, specifically leading the main marketing line at the CXO level. from the Association. Its cooperation and policy facilitation work will help establish a data space and cloud computing ecosystem in Europe, the United States and other regions of the world. She was chosen for the role because of her reputation as a renowned expert in global affairs, marcomm and diplomacy and her years of experience in understanding politicians and their directives at the forefront of many European institutions. She also brings to this role a previous involvement with the more than 300 member organizations of Gaia-X.
