Culpeper, Va., June 13, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The Association of Social Work Boards announced that the Board of Directors has named Stacey Hardy-Chandler, Ph.D., JD, LCSW, the new Chief Executive Officer of the organization after a national search. Hardy-Chandler stood out among a strong pool of highly qualified candidates. “In addition to her impressive resume and leadership skills,” said ASWB President Roxroy A. Reid, “she is deeply committed to the social work profession, equity, and social justice.” . Hardy-Chandler will succeed current CEO Dwight J. Hymans, MSW, LCSW, who is retiring July 6.

Hardy-Chandler received her master’s degree in social welfare from the University of California, Los Angeles, her doctorate in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology (Alliant International), and her Juris Doctor from the University of Nevada at Las Vegas William S. Boyd School of Law. This year she will complete a postgraduate degree in Organizational Leadership at Oxford University’s Saïd Business School. It is currently licensed as an LCSW in Nevada and Virginia.

Her career in social work spans more than 30 years and includes providing mental health services to diverse client populations, serving as Director of Field Education for the University of Nevada, School of Las Vegas Social Work and the Department of Social Work at George Mason University in Virginia, and most recently served as Director of the City of Alexandria Center for Children and Families.

Professional honors include the National Counties Association and Virginia Association of Counties Achievement Awards; National Association of Social Workers – Nevada Chapter Social Worker of the Year Award; and University of Nevada, Las Vegas Innovation Award for developing the Advanced Graduate Certificate, Forensic Social Work.
